"Microfiber is a wonder fabric – it can hold up to 7 times its weight in water, now the Turbie Twist® is even more effective at absorbing the water from your hair after bathing", said Christina Cummings, Turbie Twist, LLC President. "We’ve taken the product to the next level in terms of function, but still kept the fashion element which I love."
Microfiber is a fabric made of polyester and
polyamide fibers that are spun and then split into micro-sized strings that can
be 100 -200 times thinner than a strand of human hair. The manufacturing process
produces hooks and loops that produce a material that is extremely soft,
absorbent and durable. The hydrophilic (water loving) polyamide fibers absorb
and distribute water throughout the towel. Combining this technology with the
“Twisting” motion of wrapping the turban maximizes the absorbency factor.
In addition to the superior absorbency (over
cotton) Microfiber is also built to last - according to Cleanaide.com “A cotton
towels appearance and functionality will be visibly reduced after 20 washes or
so, microfiber can sustain 300 to 500 washes with very limited effect on the
product.”
The microfiber Turbans will come in both
solid and patterned versions and are available at Bed Bath and Beyond, CVS, QVC
and Walgreen’s (price: $4.99- $9.99).
